Dies Latinus: Institutum Orientale
Ergo vocabulorum fascicula fere frustra impressi. Solum igitur Petrum per museum ducebam. Sed identidem custos me castigabat--Eam me dicere nimis elate (nisi professor essem) loqui, praesertim me puditum est. Sed his dictis, dies plerumque iucundus erat.

Postea, rursus ad autocineta ambulavimus. Sed intrans animadverti me receptorium GPS non habere! Timens, ad Institutum Orientale reveni. Rogavi ianitorem num GPS ibi reliquissem. Reliqueram quidem!

In other news, is anyone else disappointed that the media coverage (e.g. here) of Bill Maher ejecting that heckler tends to leave out his insightful comment on the etymology of "audience"? ;)

Yes.

I've noticed a slew of embarrassing black eyes being dealt from within in the leftist community lately. That's just a shitty, openly disrespectful, and more importantly, uncivilized, way to voice dissent.

the liberal "civil war" will give neocons lots of gloat material. I guess it will now be known that it's safe to associate leftism with maniacal insistence that 9/11 should be called as an inside hitjob.

True, but it's a little difficult to keep nutjobs from being nutjobs, even when elections are at stake.

The right has its nutjobs (Bush, Limbaugh, Coulter), the left has its nutjobs (not as famous, but the protestor is a good example, as well as others whose soapbox is the Internet), yet I will guarantee you that people will still come out and vote in your country, to the tune of several million, come November, 2008.

I think it's time to alert my MP that now would be a good time to put Operation Annex America into action. Trust me, y'all will thank us for it.

And a word from the other side of the aisle...

Well, until following Justin's link, I didn't even know this had happened, so, obviously, I didn't see it happening, and therefore can't speak about it in detail. However, in general:

First, I am of the right (perhaps interesting linguistic comment on a previous comment--how come there are "leftists," a locution which seems to me to makes one's political belief a personal identitity issue, but no "rightists"? Speaking for myself, I hold my political views very seriously--but am much more than "a man of the right."

Having laid the cards down, I could not agree more that both sides have their nut jobs and that a civil society--in all senses of the word--cannot allow them to spoil serious consideration of the issues. The more serious the issue at hand, the more imperative it is that this not happen. Even if it does take a prompt ejection. I just hope when someone of the right is attempting to speak is is being heckled, the sauce is as good for the goose as for the gander--because, in my opinion, it's pretty good sauce.

Coivinix! I somehow mised this comment.

Well, keep in mind this was taking place on a TV show, not a political event. I don't know if you've ever watched Bill Maher's show, but he does prefer, at least in theory, to have his guest pannel be from a wide political spectrum. However, because the audience is overwhelmingly liberal, many righties (aha! :P ) are understandibly afraid to come on the show. Bill does get very mad at the audience if he thinks they're not being civil, but there's only so much he can (and should) do, so he tends to give conservative guests extra thanks.

Of course he's not adverse to handing them their asses himself!
