They also sell Harry Potter books translate into Ancient Greece.

("They" being Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble etc, not the British Museum.)

Yes, I've mentioned that before. I don't own a copy, though it's on my Amazon Wishlist, and I do have the (rather disapointing, alas) Latin version. I have quite a collection of modern children's literature in Latin actually.

A wide variety of Latin children's books exist (such as Quomodo Invidiosulus Nomine Grinchus Diem Natalem Christi Abrogaverit and Ferdinandus Taurus and Winnie Ille Pu), but I don't know about that one specifically.

However, Peter is *way* more charming inn Egyptian than in Latin because Egyptian already has the wn-bunny which is the cutest hieroglyph ever!

You know what's funny, is I got to this via a very lengthy pathway, including Google-searching. It figures that you two would know each other. *g*

Hi!

This is going to be an extremely random comment.

First off, your journal is really interesting. Hope you don't mind if I friend.

Secondly, I found you via Languagehat's blog, which I'd gone to because I'm currently looking for someone who can translate some English dialogue into phonetically transcribed ancient Egyptian for a documentary we're working on. I was wondering, from some of the posts you've made, if you do any of this sort of work yourself.

Um - that's it, I guess! Feel free to check out my LJ, or not, as you choose.

You probably read that entry on pronouncing Egyptian, which I just reread myself this morning.

At any rate, I have to admit that would be a dream job for me. It's something I've always wanted to do. That said, I'm not 100% sure I'm up to the challenge. Let's discuss this further by email.
